Mint leaves are commonly used in beverages, such as tea, and various desserts due to their distinctive bright and refreshing taste. Mint can grow both indoors and outdoors. If grown indoors, be sure to locate it where it will be able to receive plenty of good morning light.
Basil is the ultimate summer herb; it evokes warm sunny days, luscious fragrances, and mouthwatering food combinations. Lemon basil is best used fresh in salads, vinaigrettes, cheese or egg dishes, beverages, ice creams, sorbets, or with fruits, summer vegetables, seafood, and poultry. It is excellent in baked goods—cookies, cakes, muffins, and scones—which seem to capture its essence.
Rosemary is used as a seasoning in a variety of dishes, adding a hint of lemon-pine, woodsy and peppery flavour. With a fragrance similar to charred wood, it goes best with meats and barbeque dishes. In Singapore, rosemary can grow both indoors and outdoors. As these plants thrive in warm, humid environments and cannot take extremely cold temperatures, rosemary may be one of the easiest herbs to grow in Singapore.
